Slab Inspection (Post-Pour)
Verify your concrete slab meets specifications after the pour. Check for defects before framing begins.
Book within 1–2 weeks of pour — before framing begins
Why Post-Pour Slab Inspections Matter
Your concrete slab is the foundation of your entire home. Defects in the slab can lead to cracking, movement, and structural issues that affect the whole building.
Our post-pour inspection checks that the slab has been poured to specification, is level, and shows no signs of defects that need addressing before construction continues.
Slab defects are the most expensive to fix later. Catch them early.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book a slab inspection?
After concrete has been poured and cured (typically 5–7 days post-pour), but before any framing begins. The window is usually 1–2 weeks.
What's checked at the slab stage?
Slab level and flatness, edge beam quality, step-down verification, surface finish, cracking, hold-down bolt positioning, service penetration locations, damp-proof membrane integrity at edges.
How is slab level measured?
We use a 2-metre spirit level and laser measurement tools to verify the slab is within AS 2870 tolerances. Variances are documented with measurements, not just observations.
What's the most common slab defect you find?
Edge beam cracking from premature load or poor curing, slab level variance exceeding 5mm over 2m, exposed reinforcement at slab edges, and inadequate edge protection.
If the slab is defective, can it be fixed?
Depends on severity. Minor cracking can often be remediated. Major level issues or structural concerns may require significant rework or engineer involvement. Catching at slab stage is far cheaper than after framing.
How much does a slab inspection cost?
$550 inc GST. Same pricing across all stage inspections.
Do I need both pre-pour AND slab inspections?
Recommended yes — they catch different things. Pre-pour catches what's underneath; slab catches what the pour produced.
Most clients who book a slab inspection book us through to handover. See our construction stage inspections for the full build journey.
