Frame Stage Inspection Brisbane & SEQ
The frame is your home's skeleton. Once plaster goes on, everything hidden inside becomes inaccessible forever. A frame inspection is the last chance to find structural defects before they are buried.

What is a Frame Stage Inspection?
A Frame Stage Inspection is carried out after your home's structural framework has been erected and before the internal wall linings and plasterboard are installed. This is one of the two most critical inspection stages — along with the pre-pour — because defects found at frame stage can still be rectified. Once plaster goes on, they cannot.
VG Inspect's frame inspection covers the full structural framework of your home against AS1684.2 (Residential Timber-Framed Construction), AS4440 (Roof Trusses) and the National Construction Code. We check bracing patterns, tie-down connections, truss installations, bottom plate fixings and every structural connection your builder's certifier may have missed.
The builder's frame inspection is carried out by a building surveyor appointed by your builder. Our inspection is carried out by Adam Gates, working exclusively for you. These are two very different things.
Defects identified at frame stage — incorrect bracing, missing tie-downs, non-compliant truss connections — are straightforward to rectify before plastering. The same defects discovered after handover require walls to be opened. A frame inspection is the most cost-effective intervention point in your entire build.

Frame Inspection FAQs
How much does a frame inspection cost in Brisbane?
VG Inspect frame stage inspections start from $550 including your detailed PDF report with photos referencing the specific Australian Standard breached.
When exactly should I book a frame inspection?
After your builder's certifier has approved the frame but before plasterboard goes on. You typically have a 1–2 week window. Book as soon as you receive frame approval notification.
What's the difference between the builder's frame inspection and an independent one?
The builder's frame inspection is carried out by a building surveyor appointed and paid by your builder. VG Inspect works exclusively for you. We are looking for everything — not just minimum code compliance.
What if defects are found at frame stage?
Defects at frame stage are the most important to catch because they are still accessible. Your report formally documents every issue against AS1684.2 and the NCC. Your builder must rectify before plastering proceeds.
Do you inspect steel frame homes as well as timber?
Yes. VG Inspect inspects both timber and steel framed homes across Brisbane and SEQ.
