Pre-Pour Slab Inspection Brisbane & SEQ
Once concrete is poured, nothing underneath can ever be seen again. A pre-pour inspection is the only opportunity to verify your slab reinforcement, termite barriers and vapour barrier before they are permanently buried.

What is a Pre-Pour Slab Inspection?
A Pre-Pour Slab Inspection is carried out after the formwork, reinforcement steel, termite barriers and vapour barrier have been set up — and before the concrete is poured. This is the most time-critical inspection of your entire build. Once the truck arrives, the window closes permanently.
VG Inspect checks your slab setup against AS2870 (Residential Slabs and Footings), AS3660.1 (Termite Management) and the National Construction Code. We verify steel placement, concrete cover distances, bar chair spacing, lap lengths, vapour barrier integrity, pipe penetration sealing and termite barrier continuity — every element that will be invisible once the slab is poured.
Defects found at pre-pour stage cost nothing to fix. The same defects discovered after pouring require core sampling, engineer assessment and potentially slab rectification at enormous cost. No other inspection stage offers this return on investment.
You typically have 24–48 hours notice before your pour date. Book immediately when your builder notifies you.

Pre-Pour Inspection FAQs
How much does a pre-pour inspection cost in Brisbane?
VG Inspect pre-pour inspections start from $550 including your detailed PDF report with photos and specific AS2870 references.
How much notice do I need to give to book a pre-pour inspection?
Contact us immediately when your builder notifies you of a pour date. We offer same-day and next-day availability for pre-pour inspections given the time-critical nature.
What if defects are found before the pour?
Your builder must rectify all non-compliant items before pouring proceeds. Pre-pour defects are the easiest and cheapest to fix at any stage of construction.
My builder says a pre-pour inspection isn't necessary — is that right?
Your builder's certifier will conduct a basic check. An independent inspection by Adam Gates checks to a significantly higher level of detail against AS2870 and the NCC — items a certifier's check does not cover.
Can you do a same-day pre-pour inspection?
Yes — we prioritise pre-pour inspections given the time-critical nature. Contact us immediately when you receive your pour date and we will do everything possible to attend.
